About GroundPost

The message board built by tradespeople, for tradespeople.

What is GroundPost?

GroundPost is a no-nonsense message board for the people who keep the world running — electricians, HVAC technicians, plumbers, pipefitters, AV integrators, mechanics, welders, and every other tradesperson who shows up and gets it done.

It's a place to share real-world knowledge, ask hard questions, call out bad practice, and connect with people who understand what you're actually talking about — because they've been under the same crawl space, in the same attic, or pulling the same wire.

Why does this exist?

Most online spaces for tradespeople are either locked inside proprietary apps, buried in Facebook groups with no search, or overrun by influencers and product shills who've never held a real tool.

GroundPost is different. No algorithms deciding what you see. No brand deals. No "content creators." Just verified knowledge, hard-won experience, and straight talk from people who work in the field.

The name comes from the electrical ground symbol — the most honest thing in a schematic. A reference point. Everything measured against it.

How it works

  • Boards (g/) — communities organized by trade, topic, or region. Browse all boards or jump straight to yours.
  • Posts — share a question, a job story, a wiring diagram, a parts find, or anything relevant to the trade.
  • Voting — good answers rise, bad advice gets buried. Community knowledge, self-organized.
  • Karma — earned through quality posts and helpful replies. No shortcuts.
  • Moderation — each board has moderators, usually experienced tradespeople in that field.

What we're not

  • Not a job board — there are boards for that, kept separate
  • Not a product review mill — opinions are fine, paid endorsements are not
  • Not for DIY homeowners looking for free professional advice
  • Not a social network — your follower count means nothing here
